Bob woodward fear review7/8/2023 ![]() ![]() Yet when closeted with his harried aides or beleaguered cabinet members, Trump mutates into the carnivorous hound of the Baskervilles. “Honey, I’m talking to Bob Woodward!” he proudly announces when Melania interrupts one of their phone calls, and he even imparts whispered nuclear secrets in the hope that this upright, fanatically factual journalist – who began his career by exposing the Watergate burglary and thus scuttled Nixon’s presidency – will relax into an obsequious court reporter. That’s OK.” It’s the creed of a grovelling lap dog, and Trump follows up with flattering licks and whiny appeals to have his belly scratched. ![]() “I love this guy,” says Trump when granting access to Bob Woodward. There’s no need: he is his own fawning poodle and envenomed cur. Now I understand why Trump refuses to have a dog in the White House. ![]()

The mark leigh fallon7/8/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() It's an engaging story, heavy on the "snogging" and light on the mystical perils, from an author likely to improve with time. The intense, immediate romance between Megan and Adam remains the focus and the main draw. Several chapters of teenage day-in-the-life narration ensue before Fallon suddenly dumps mysterious marks, elemental forces, and the Celtic goddess Danu into the mix, and the story takes off in a paranormal direction that the first third of the book has only hinted at. She promptly abandoned her 'riveting' career in corporate treasury and discovered Inkpop, a website for budding writers of teen fiction. While living in beautiful Kinsale, her novel, Carrier of the Mark was conceived. Megan fits right in with the popular crowd at her new school, but a broodingly handsome boy, Adam DeR s, keeps staring at her, and Megan stares right back, despite her friends' warnings. Leigh Fallon was born in South Africa, raised in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Cork in her 20's. ![]() The setup is familiar and briskly handled: 17-year-old Megan Rosenberg has moved to Kinsale, Ireland, with her father after several unsettled years following the death of Megan's mother. Fallon's debut novel, first published on the HarperCollins online writing community and then selected for print, is a better-than-average offering that occasionally betrays its amateur roots with some uneven pacing. ![]() Kane abel jeffrey archer7/8/2023 ![]() ![]() But both the boys show extraordinary strength and resilience. Abel, stuck in Poland is a witness to the unrest in Poland and Europe and is subject to the barbaric tortures of Hitler’s regime. Both are brilliant, but luck favours only some. ![]() It follows their sorrows and joys hardships and successes. The story carries on following the lives of each protagonist individually, alternatively. They have but one thing in common – their greed to be successful. It follows the story of two men- William Kane and Abel Rosnovski who are born on the exact same day, but poles apart – William, to a rich, industrious family in America and Abel to a poor, penniless trapper family. The book, in a way is a modern adaptation of this play. When Abel’s offering is received with better grace, Cain in a fit of jealousy, kills Abel. Cain, a farmer and Abel, a shepherd, make offerings to the Lord in the form of land produce and flocks respectively. The book follows a similar premise as the Biblical tale of Cain and Abel taken from the book of Genesis. I read this book when five years ago and even today, when I go back to it I feel the same joy as when I first read it. ![]() Published in 1979, Jeffrey Archer‘s ‘ Kane and Abel‘ still remains one of the finest books ever written. ![]() Last day of the dinosaurs book7/8/2023 ![]() ![]() It’s a sunny afternoon in the Hell Creek of ancient Montana 66 million years ago. ![]() Picture yourself in the Cretaceous period. Thrown into the universe at the helm of a stolen ship, Sarya begins to uncover an impossible truth. That is, until an encounter with a bounty hunter leaves her life and her perspective shattered. Again.Īnd most days, she can almost accept that she'll never know the truth about why humanity was deemed too dangerous to exist, or whether she really is - impossibly - the lone survivors of a species destroyed a millennium ago. Or making sure her adoptive mother doesn't casually eviscerate one of their neighbors. The Last Human is a sneakily brilliant, gleefully oddball space-opera debut - a masterful play on perspective, intelligence, and free will, wrapped in a rollicking journey through a strange and crowded galaxy.
